It is a shame on distribution that I have to travel Down Under to get an Antwerpse brew. But apparently so. Two weeks ago in Sydney I find Lucie at Oak Barrel; but they are out of Seef. So today at Melbourne's Purvis, I find Seef, Lucie and Minerva. What a treat! A signature set from a fun Belgian brewhouse. And what an importer they must have in the Land of Aussies.
Minerva pours a nice head and keeps a thin layer, albeit no lace. Smells are yeasts and fruit and lots of both... but not too much. Tastes are well-balanced; enough hops and flavour in the yeast to counter the sweet malt and sugar that is needed to get to 7% ABV. On the full side of Medium-mouthed. Soft, very soft.
I give very good Overall Hugs to Antwerpse Brouw and detail it in my other reviews. But to summarise now: I like the 1950s retro graphics; their positioning as the guardians of Antwerp's brewing culture is brilliant; and crowd-funding is cool. Gezondheid and Schol !
