actually a lichtenhainer, another style specific enough to probably deserve its own category here on BA. essentially a smoked gose, but i dont believe they traditionally incorporate wheat, and maybe not even salt, but it has similar german origins and probably drinks closer to a gose than anything else. this one is delicate on all counts, the smoke is very earthy and mild, the acidity is quite low, no more than lightly piquant, and the body and super light, this is a flavorful and interesting and well refined session beer, i wish more american brewers would make one. i like the light lemony lactic tang with the campfire smoke element, its rustic and delicious, earthy and refreshing somehow for being smokey. the dry finish almost suggests a lager yeast, and the high carbonation makes this incredibly drinkable, nice in warm weather, and very much alive. the smoke and the tart are cool together, and the malt base is simple, european, and almost has a table saison sort of vibe, rustic in that way. overall really well made beer, a style i wish got more attention, and something good enough to go back here for!
