One of the light and interesting styles we love to brew in the hot Toronto summer, this Dry-Hopped Berliner Weisse is an experiment in marrying tart with hoppy.

The beer is a cloudy gold colour, with a small white head that fades quickly. Nice lace.

Nose contains lemon. wheat, a yogurt-like tartness and some light fruits.

Taste consists of lemon, tropical fruit and a lactobacillus flavour. Fairly tart. A bit of a cereal-malt base.

Light bodied, strongly carbonated. Tart but too tingly.

Overall, I think this is one of the best berliners Bellwoods has done. The tartness is taken down a bit, which is a benefit - with some of the their takes on this style, the tartness has been dominant to the point of obscuring other flavours. Here it is strongly present without clouding other elements of the beer. Nice flavour.
