In life, Jutsu is all about stealthy ninja techniques (well actually techniques, skills, methods, tricks, or spells according to Wikipedia) but in beer it’s a fantastically balanced pale ale brewed with Simcoe, Centennial, Cascade and Amarillo hops. A clean malt character provides the perfect base for the fruity, juicy hops to take centre stage. Easy drinking with low bitterness. Meet version 2.0!

A very solid APA. Looks great in the glass, smells like a beer that wants to make a memory, and dances the malt/hop line with great aplomb. Thanks again, Coronaeus! This is a lovely beer.

Perhaps I am in the minority, but I am not sure why this beer needed a second version, as I really liked the first Jutsu. In any event, never a bad thing to have a newish Bellwoods beer.
Like the first one, the nose is great. Soft tropical fruits, rather perfume-like. Flavour is similar, with a nice bitter finish. Malts are pretty low in the mix. Always hard to do a comparison across time, but it seems to me that the pine that was present in the first version is reduced or gone, with the tropical fruits remaining.
I can't say I have a real preference between the two versions. Perhaps I would if trying them side by side. Either version, a really nice pale ale and a great addition to Bellwoods' portfolio.
