This beer was made using the same technique we used to make Jelly King, but incorporates a small amount of darker specialty malts for subtle cocoa/coffee flavours (and dark colour). Adding an extra step, we conditioned this beer on top of the stout-soaked tart cherries from the recently released 3 Minutes to Midnight (2016) prior to packaging.

Dark brown color with tan head. Aroma has nice cherry notes and dark malts. Taste starts with tart cherry, some dark malts, finishes with a light bitterness. Light body, medium carbonation. Really easy drinking, tasty dark sour.

Nose presents dark cherry up front, almost like a dark cherry soda scent, but without the sweetness. Seems to be a bit of an oak scent as well. Flavour is not quite as cherry focused, but it is a big part of it. Moderately sour, with a bit of a balsamic flavour- a small hint of Flanders flavours. Finish is quite dry. Not overly complex, but a nice flavour and easy drinking.

Well rounded tart ale, with cocoa and cherry still comes clear through. On tap at Hafis.

Chilled fresh bottle.
Appearance is dark and rich black cherry with some murkiness. Nice carbonation but very little head after the initial pour. Not even a rim lacing.
Dark cherry with molasses nose.
Nice bite of underlying acidity. Caramel notes from its ancestry. Fresh cherry. Tart Apple. Not overly sour.
Overall. Liking this sour. A little like Oud Bruin without the barrel aspect.
