As years passed and our oak aged beer became more robust, we discovered many unique, interesting, single barrels deserving of a special release. Barn Owl was created as a response to these lone wolves, and has grown into a diverse, ongoing series that reflects the growing diversity of our barrel program. The name is a nod to the wise and exacting animal that keeps watch over the farmhouse (er..industrial warehouse), and the one-off creations are released sporadically throughout the year, just as soon as we deem the barrels ripe for the picking.
No. 13 has a solid, balanced acidity with dimension being provided from the mix of berries (heavy on the raspberry with just a hint of cranberry). Bright and lively body to carry the tart flavours. Aged 18 months.

This one pours a soft-looking pinkish-reddish color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells like cranberry skin, lemon acidity, oak, and jammy raspberry.
Cranberry is an interesting fruit to play off with raspberry, adding a dry fruit skin flavor to the a more jammy fruit flavor out of the raspberry. There's a bit of lemon and funk, but it's mostly fruit here.
This is light bodied, clean, and with a pleasant acidity.
This is about middle of the road for the series. It's an enjoyable beverage.

Bottle: Poured a light pink color ale with an off-white foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of sour notes of raspberry with distinctive cranberry notes. Taste is a nice mix of fresh raspberry and cranberry notes with some tart notes, light oak presence with some light acidity perceptible. Body is about average with good carbonation. Enjoyable sour and I loved the cranberry notes.
