Farmageddon is our wild farmhouse ale that we've been brewing, blending, and aging for almost as many years as we've been open. The blending process allows us to maintain a common thread across batches, the aging adds nuanced layers, while the brett and bacteria work hard to create small idiosyncrasies in each release. It's a refined, effervescent, and delicious beer worthy of special occasions and idle weeknights.

Our 2019 edition of Cherry Farmageddon is oak aged then conditioned on 2 types of sour cherry varietals -- Montmorency and Morello -- before being primed and bottle conditioned for maximum spritz factor.

What it smells like, what it tastes like: This edition balances notes of bright berry, farmhouse funk, refined acidity, and a few subtle hits of spice, cinnamon hearts, and cherry blasters.

2019 edition with cherries. Pours a clouded ruby with a half finger of head. Lots of funk to it, with Morello up front and Montmorency more towards the finish. I like the former a lot more than the latter, personally, so I'm enjoying this more once it warms up a bit, allowing more qualities and flavors from the base beer to complement the fruit.

A 500ml bottle, 2019 vintage, poured into a 3 Fonteinen stemmed glass.

Appearance: A hazy ruby red pinkish colour with a one finger pinkish head that dissipated fairly quickly and left only sparse lacing.

Aroma: Tart, light funk, cherries, mixed berries, oak, with hints of lemon and spices.

Taste: What you’d expect from the aroma, sour, tart, light funk, cherries, mixed berries, oak, lemon juice, with hints of spice and cinnamon.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium bodied with moderate to high prickly carbonation.

Overall: Very nice and enjoyable with a good fruity cherry mix. Carbonation may have been slightly over prickly for my liking, but I would still keep drinking this.

16.9 ounce bottle.
Moderate to vigorous pour yields a 3/4 inch pink head over a dark pink body with no lacing. Nose of cherries foremost with the funk taking a backseat. Taste mirrors nose, nice and tart throughout right to a wonderful finish. Nice feel and overall, another fine offering from Bellwoods Brewery. Cheers!!!

Got in a BIF from Coronaeus. 500 ml bottle into tulip glass, 2019 vintage bottling. Pours hazy deep ruby red/orange color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a thin lace cap that lingers. Nice spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of huge sour/tart/tangy red cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Amazing complexity, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, moderate pale/wheat malts, and oak barrel notes; with big strength. Taste of huge sour/tart/tangy red cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, and white bread; with lighter notes of peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness. Light-moderate fruity/lactic tart/sourness, fruit tang, and yeast/oak tannin spiciness on the finish. Lingering notes of sour/tart/tangy red cherries, fruit skin/pits, lemon, lime, peach, plum, pear, melon, apricot, red/green apple, red grape/wine, oak, hay, straw, grass, wheat, cracker, white bread, peppercorn, leathery/musty/lacto funk, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, moderate pale/wheat malts, and oak barrel flavors; with a great malt/tart/sourness and tangy fruit balance; with minimal puckering flavors after the finish. Moderate increasing dryness from lingering tart/sourness, tangy fruit, and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately grainy/acidic/tangy/tannic, and fairly crisp balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 6.3%. Overall this is an amazing fruited sour/wild ale! All around amazing complexity, robustness, and balance of cherries, fruity/funky/acidic/spicy yeast, moderate pale/wheat malts, and oak barrel flavors; very smooth, crisp, and easy to drink with the modestly acidic/tangy/tannic/drying finish; not overly lactic. Insanely juicy/jammy cherries, with perfectly balanced Brett/Bacteria complexity; and a nice pale/wheat malt backbone against acidity. No residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A highly enjoyable offering, and top tier style example.
