Got this from peensteen this past summer
From a 500ml bottle into a snifter
Vintage: 2018
Spiced imperial stout with vanilla and coffee
Aged in rum barrels for 1 year
APPEARANCE: Black pour yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, fizzy, noisy tan head with good retention. Black body with hints of carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a half wisp and ring, clinging to the glass. Splotchy wisp and ring remain leaving touches of lacing down the glass as it empties.
SMELL: Big nose of rum barrel, brown sugar, vanilla cream and dark chocolate, brownies, some raisins, ginger and cinnamon spices, as well as some deep roasted coffee on the nose. Enticing.
TASTE: Rum barrel, oak, brown sugar, vanilla cream, some milk chocolate, pure chocolate, slight cinnamon spices and some roasted coffee up front, then a bit of booze at the swallow. Flavorful start. Bold finish of rum barrel, raisins and cinnamon notes, sweet vanilla cream, milk chocolate, some fudge brownies, as well as some roasted and lightly bitter coffee lingering on the palate. A bit of booze as well.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Semi-creamy on the palate, goes down smooth with no real burn and finishes somewhat mouth-coating. Some heat lingers. Solid feel.
OVERALL: Good stuff. This one is better than the straight vanilla version. Not quite as woody or alcoholic, and the coffee addition seems to lend a bitter, fudge-like character to it that pushes it a little further down the road towards decadence. The feel is not quite as heavy as the vanilla, but it’s solid non-the-less. I found this one to be the most enjoyable of the three variants in 2018. Well worth checking out if you’ve got one. Thanks again, peensteen!

500 mL Bottle. ABV 10.9%.
Appearance: Dark brown/black, Almost no head (less than half a finger of light brown head with a hard pour).
Aroma: Heavy chocolate, Coffee, Molasses, Roasted (Charred?) malts, Rum, Cinnamon, Vanilla bean, Liquorice, Oatmeal, Quite complex.
Mouthfeel: Medium-full body, Smooth, Slight warming alcohol, Low carbonation.
Flavour: Sweetness of dark chocolate, Bitter coffee, Roasted (charred?) malts, Rum, Molasses.
Overall: What a treat! I was enjoying this beer so much I barely noticed I hadn't had a sip yet. The aroma is very satisfying. I was expecting a bit more from mouthfeel and appearance but the aroma and taste are a delight. Caribbean Christmas!
