Got this one from peensteen this past summer. Thanks, man!
From a 473ml can into a snifter
Imperial stout with chocolate and cherry
APPEARANCE: Black pour yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, looser, foamy and fizzy tan head with okay retention. Jet black body with medium levels of carbonation evident. Foamy, fizzy head recedes to a decent full cap, then down to a half wisp. A touch of wisp remains leaving some falling dots of lacing on the glass as it empties. Nice color but lack-luster head.
SMELL: Milk chocolate with hints of vanilla cream, some dark chocolate too, roasted notes and some light cherries on the nose. Touches of caramel and butterscotch there as well. Bold.
TASTE: Some tart cherries, milk and dark chocolate and some vanilla cream up front. Roasted flavors and more cherries at the swallow, slightly tart, moving into a bold finish of milk chocolate, vanilla cream, some dark chocolate, butterscotch sweetness, as well as some roasted flavors and lightly tart cherry flavor lingering on the palate. Flavorful.
PALATE: Medium body and medium carbonation. Slightly creamy on the palate, a touch foamy perhaps, goes down fine with a bit of a burn and finishes slightly mouth-coating. A touch of heat lingers, as well as a bit of tartness.
OVERALL: An okay beer, though this is perhaps the least impressive of the Black Liquid crew. A little too foamy in the look and feel while the tartness just doesn’t seem to mesh well with the rest of the flavor profile. I’ve enjoyed this series immensely, and while there’s nothing wrong with here, this one doesn’t quite live up to the rest of them. Thanks again, pensteen!

Pitch black body, milk chocolate head that forms slowly, with limited retention. Pours thick, this is going to be rich.
Aromas of musty, dark cocoa, aged fruit cake, roasted dark cherries, molasses.
Rich dark chocolate powder assaults the palate, coupled with acidic and concentrated dark cherries that balance things out, reminiscent of a black forest cake. Syrupy and thick, low carbonation, full body.
Not for the shy of heart, this is an intense sipper. Pair it with a dense fudge cake, or just have it on it's own as dessert. The flavours are there, but unfortunately it is quite flat, and for my taste too sweet even for the style.

Very roasty chocolate and malts, if there is cherry its only a drop in the finish. Oily in the mouth, some like that. Roasty aroma. A dessert for sure.
