Got this one from peensteen this past summer. Thanks, man!
From a 500ml bottle into a snifter
Imperial stout with strawberry and vanilla
APPEARANCE: Black pour yields a 2+ finger, medium looking, creamy, dark tan head with excellent retention. Jet black body with no real carbonation evident. Head slowly recedes to a full, thick cap and clings to the glass. A faint half wisp remains until the end leaving some nice lacing on the glass as it empties. Solid looking stout.
SMELL: Decent nose of vanilla, caramel and butterscotch, some milk chocolate, as well as some notes of strawberry and red berries on the nose. Strawberry yogurt, perhaps.
TASTE: Strawberries, red berries, vanilla and caramel sweetness up front. Much like strawberry yogurt with some honey in there. Sweet finish with a bold aftertaste of strawberries, vanilla yogurt, milk chocolate flavors, a lightly roasted note, as well as some caramel and butterscotch sweetness lingers on the palate. Flavorful and desert-like.
PALATE: Medium-full body with medium levels of carbonation. Very creamy smooth on the palate, enough weight, goes down smooth and finishes a bit mouth-coating.
OVERALL: Enjoyable again. The entire Black Liquid series does the trick for sure. The base stout is solid and the adjuncts work out rather nicely. This one is like strawberry yogurt with a bit of chocolate sprinkled in, which I can certainly vouch for. Tasty and worth checking out if you’re a fan of this type of stuff. Cheers again, peensteen!
