We decided to kick off a little series of stouts to feature local coffee roasters, and selfishly, to observe the results of different beans in beer. We kept the ABV relatively low, the body chewy and voluptuous, and let the coffee do most of the talking.
Our newest version is made with Stereo La Reforma (its tasting notes are: blackberry, cherry, milk chocolate), and it hits all the marks for good body, sweetness, and all-around coffee flavour.

473 mL Can. ABV 5.7%.
Appearance: Black, Over a finger of tightly packed creamy mocha head, Good amount of lacing, Great retention.
Aroma: Enormous coffee, Chocolate, Roasted malt, You can definitely smell something "Bellwoods-y" in here (as with their lesser stouts like "Hellwoods" and "Battenberg Cake").
Mouthfeel: Medium body, Smooth, Thin, Off dry finish.
Flavour: The coffee really dominates (obviously), Roasted malt, Slight chocolate, Not much complexity, Familiar Bellwoods flavour (as in their lesser stouts), Slight bitterness on finish.
Overall: Wow! Opening the can was like opening a bag of coffee beans! Total coffee domination. The aroma is seriously insane but, because of that, the rest of the aromas and flavours suffer.
