The 2020 edition of Motley Cru is a blend of barrel aged wild ales, all golden-ish, that were refermented on whole Gamay grapes from Rosewood Estates, for a total of 46 days on fruit. It's our first Gamay release, with a fairly intense almost 1:1 ratio of grapes to beer, and the result is a fine balance of subtleties.

There's acidity, minerality, and tannic qualities, but no single element overwhelms or takes over, and the supporting flavours of strawberry, cherry, and raspberry seed find their way to the forefront. Bottle conditioned for extra bubbly oomph, and perfect for lifting downtrodden spirits.

Bottle: Poured a light reddish color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and limited lacing. Aroma of funky ester with some tart notes, light oak and grapes notes. Taste is a nice mix of funky ester with light vinous notes, some funky ester with some oak and a dry and somewhat fruity finish. Body is about average with good carbonation. Another great year for this beer which should be made available more often.
