I haven't been having Bellwoods in the last few years, as a) the local competition caught up and are doing better, b) they are the most overpriced, c) they sell out too quickly, and d) too many sours, not enough IPAs and stouts.
This one pours the requisite black and leaves a ring after a lovely caramel head. The nose clearly yells coffee, but the chocolate and malt is there too. It's silky because of the lactose and the coffee is clearly the main attraction here. At first it almost competes with Peche Mortel, but this illusion passes quickly. It's still nice, though a bit thin. Not sweet or boozy, it is worth a try.
