Moonbelly is a collaborative Triple IPA, created with Third Moon Brewing to commemorate their first anniversary in 2021...and now we're revisiting it to celebrate our very own 13th anniversary! Borrowing aspects from our Greenbelly and their Triple Bone Tree, Moonbelly is every bit as soft and pillowy as it is intensely aromatic and smooth.

Review from notes. Bellwoods and Third Moon collab. On tap at the Brain and served into a tulip.
Appearance - Very hazy yellowy gold brew with a small half finger of foamy white head. Modest staying power.
Smell - Lots of citrus with peach, passionfruit and a hint of guava leading the way.
Taste - Intensely citrus with lots of peach combined in as well. Passionfruit another highlight. Quite boozy and strong.
Mouthfeel - Full bodied and a bit sharp and boozy. Modest carbonation and somewhat juicy as far as a TIPA can go.
Overall - Good, flavorful and intense collab, but Moonbelly's just a bit rough around the edges to make it something I'd want to drink more than one of.

Single 16 ounce can - gather first brewed 2021 and repeated this year.
Pours a hazy, slightly milky golden yellow with a finger of frothy white head (looks fine for a hazy, but I always prefer the bright and shiny clear look...).
Aroma of grapefruit, peach, nectarine, and a bit of tropical fruit. Hints of sweaty dankness.
Sweet citrus on the palate with nectarine, peachy notes, and again a bit of tropical fruit, ending with a slightly pithy and herbal bitterness.
Smooth and aptly described soft full mouthfeel with a creamy texture that is somewhat countered by sharp carbonation and a bit of a pithy bite. Could pass for 7-8% for sure.

Pours a rather thin foam head. Keeps the lacing. Nice deep orange yellow color. Very aromatic full of pineapple and tropical fruit smells. Feel is thicker than other IPA's I've been drinking lately. A bit hoppy and bitter but not all that much. Citrous peel and hop on the after taste. A little bit of alcohol taste but they hide it pretty well for a 10% beer. I would of liked a little bit more kick on flavor for this triple, but it's not too far off. Overall its a decent IPA for what it is but triples are not really my cup of tea. I'll take double/triples once in a while. If strong IPA's are right up your alley, then by all means go for it.
