Greenbelly emerges as our first triple IPA, and with it, a reminder that prodigious hop additions just taste good. This batch is a special version made with Galaxy hops. It's supercharged!

Hugely aromatic, with notes of grape sour candies, sherbet, strawberry Campinos, low bitterness, and a pillowy soft body, this beer translates a great magnitude of hops into an impressively balanced, hazy orb of wonder.

Pours thick and dark yellow with a small head that turns into a solid ring. Once the whole can is poured, the white sediments appear. The nose is of papaya and kiwi, along with malt. The mouthfeel is also thick, and quite hoppy, along with citrus and, once again, papaya. The bitterness only appears at the end notes. Dry finish.
It's not great but certainly complex.

Pours a nice foam head that lasts a few minutes at least and keeps strong lacing afterwards that lasts the whole drink. Cream Yellow color mixed with specs of floating yeast or whatever it is in the beer.
A little light on the nose but you still get classic IPA citrous smells.
Taste is slightly thicker than their other IPA beers. For a 10% beer, the alcohol is well hidden. I don't get much of a booze taste, which is good. Not too bitter. No more than any other IPA beer. You get some citrous and cream taste. I don't notice any difference in alcohol strength between this 10% ABV and a 6% ABV I've had an hour ago, which i guess you can take as a good thing. For the most part, Bellwoods are masters at hiding the alcohol taste in their beers.
They only use Galaxy Hops here, and yeah it works pretty well. Not my favorite hop variety I guess, but I do still enjoy it. Most beers like this use a combination of hops so it's hard to pinpoint your favorite hops sometimes. I appreciate the use of only 1 hop variety here so you can get a taste for it. Pretty good IPA beer that I would probably buy again one of these days from the website.

Out of (semi) retirement. Canned December 16, 2024. From the brewery and served cool into a tulip.

Appearance - Very hazy yellowy gold beer with a milkiness to describe the transparency. Two fingers of fluffy white head with very good staying power and wide curtains of lacing left behind.

Smell - Aggressive citrus with loads of pineapple coming through with lots of weediness as well. The booze is clear on the nose, this is not a light beer.

Taste - Pineapple, lots of weediness other citrus muddled in. Mango shows up in force here too. Boozy but not overly so. Dank as hell. Intensity turned up to 11 on this one. Elements of strawberries shine through as well with a light creaminess.

Mouthfeel - Medium full bodied with low carbonation. Juicy enough and quite drinkable.

Overall - An excellent TIPA, and quite drinkable for a style that usually runs its course with me by two thirds of the can. This rendition of Greenbelly was enjoyable all the way through and we'd be lucky if it could stay in Bellwoods' lineup for a little longer.
