Blitzen is a celebratory beer released in December, brewed to encapsulate flavours of the holiday. Early versions featured plum and lemon in the body of an Imperial Saison, while 2021's batch is an ode to After 8 chocolates.

It's rich and smooth like an Imperial Stout should be, with elements of mint, chocolate, and vanilla. The perfect winter night cap.

Pitch black body, slowly forming a dense, burnt caramel head; looking rich and deeply roasted. Several minutes retention.
Festive peppermint oil and bittwersweet dark chocolate on the nose - hitting the mark so far.
Taste matches the aroma spot on, a decadent blend of rich dark chocolate and refreshing peppermint, augmented by an incredibly silky smooth feel - creamy, not syrupy; it's on the sweeter side as expected, and to an acceptable degree, slightly balanced by a touch of alcohol burn in the finish; full, somewhat chewy body, with faint carbonation, a lot like a nitro.

The deep, decadent chocolate flavours linger, carry some of that spritely mintiness - really a delight, if not complex. It's dense and best shared with a friend.

Yo ho ho. Let Blitzen guide your sleigh tonight. tried a December can. Pours motor oil black with massive coffee collar that last well. Mint forward nose with chocolate blanket offers a rich nose. Mint forward first sip with bitter finish. Served a bit too cold as this one improves with warmth. Sip it long into the night,
