Strong Beer/Bière Forte is a delicious (and bilingual!) IPA. It is also the result of an interprovincial collaboration with the team at Brasserie du Bas-Canada, based in Gatineau, QC. For this joint venture, each brewery agreed on two hops to use in their respective recipes and was left to select a third mystery hop; a decision informed by personal hop whims and Humulus lupulus fancies.
Strong Beer/Bière Forte is hopped with Citra, Strata, and … Lotus, which impart notes of grapefruit, candied pineapple, and tangerine. Big on flavour and very drinkable.
We won’t spill the beans on what Brasserie du Bas-Canada has planned, but be sure to look for their release of Bière Forte/Strong Beer on Feb 11.

Can: Poured a cloudy/hazy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and good amount of lacing. Aroma of juicy citrus hops notes with some tropical notes and nice floral hops undertones. Taste is also a great mix of juicy hops notes with some floral undertones and some tropical fruit flavors. Body is full with good carbonation. Solid NEIPA with nice flavors of fresh fruits.

Poured opaque, raw honey in color and I may have opened it a bit too soon as virtually no head formed. What little that did appear was off white.
(You may make out in the background a paper plate and plastic fork; it's dinner time and our kitchen still needs drywall. Not washing dishes in the bathtub!) But I will wash my beer glass in the sink.
The aroma is very NEIPA, subtle fruits of indeterminable nature but all smell wonderful.
The flavor follows, I can sense the fruit forward flavors but am completely unable to define them; not citrus, but perhaps an aspect of it; not stone fruit, but again, maybe it's contributing. Impossible for my limited skills to sort out but it's really tasty.
The feel matches the appearance, it has body and depth; not viscous like a BBA Stout, but similar. Doesn't coat the tongue. If that makes sense.
OA, really happy to have been ablet to try this beer.
