Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a nice large dark brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of sweet chocolate notes with some orangey flavors is clearly noticeable. Taste is a mix of sweet chocolate notes with some orangey liqueur notes and some light roasted malt notes with a semi-sweet finish. Body is full with nice carbonation and no noticeable alcohol notes. Interesting stout but orange flavors do not become overwhelming at one point.

One of two cans from the brewery. Served cold into a tulip.
Appearance - Midnight black with dark brown frothy head that resembles a frothy on a high end coffee. Head doesn't linger long though.
Smell - Fairly big and bold pungent orange notes with some roasty malts, some dark chocolate and traces of molasses.
Taste - It's Terry's Chocolate Orange, beer style. Lots of dark chocolate, plenty of orange, intense and well balanced. Roasty bits make up the background. Not sweet, but not bitter, the chocolate is somewhere between milk chocolate and dark chocolate, making for a light dark chocolate. Orange liqueur aspect ingrained seamlessly. Booze is present but a nice subtle reminder.
Mouthfeel - Thick, velvety smooth with moderate carbonation, improving a bit as it warms. Luscious feel.
Overall - On of those rare beers that gets better with ever sip, Black Liquids Vol. 9 didn't disappoint and delivered what I'd had been hoping for. A big no-frills stout with lots of orange and lots of chocolate making for a semi-sweet experience that tasted even better than expected.

Good edition for real edgy, orange rind and chocolate finish. Good one.A bit of natural bitterness from the orange rind. Chocolate after taste. Soft drink stout.
