This is a special edition of Witchshark for our 10th Anniversary! An homage to the original but made with 10 hops (for 10 years, get it?).

Brewed with: Amarillo, Cascade, Centennial, Citra, Columbus, Galaxy, Loral, Mosaic, Nelson Sauvin and Simcoe.

Named after the elusive creature with the head of a shark and the body of a boy that first swooped in on a broom during construction of the brew pub, this Double IPA can elevate a bad day to good. The Witchshark is shy and mischievous, but once you let him into your heart you’ll see why this intense brew is such a popular one.

I am fortunate to consume anything from Canada. I love the label on this beer, a shark-headed witch with balloons. I pulled the beer from the fridge; 40 degrees is the temperature. I am letting this warm up a bit before I consume it. Pouring the beer into a tulip glass. A frothy and creamy bright white half-fingered head was created. The slow dissipation left some lacing on the glass. The color charts around SRM 6; are golden yellow with straw hues. This is a hazy beer; the clarity is non-existent. The appearance of the beer is akin to light orange juice. I was not expecting this from this DIPA.
Tropical notes leap out of the glass, orange and a touch of floral esters. Other aromas are lightly toasted malts, crackers, biscuits, and a hint of floral. The tropical aromas are pineapple, mango, apricot, orange, and passionfruit.
The beer has grapefruit, woods, and resin notes with orange, pineapple, and mango. The malt bill is a cracker, lightly toasted malts, and bready.
The mouthfeel is tannic with a crisp finish. A medium body with medium-plus carbonation.
I was not expecting that taste when comparing the aroma. I was expecting this juicy IPA, but a combination of juicy and west coast hops. Ripe grapefruits weave their way into this beer. The malt backbone is firm, holding hops profile in check. Fantastic beer with amazing flavors. I am so glad I got to experience this; thank you, Peter.
