Bottle: Poured a pitch-black color stout with a dark brown foamy head with some retention and some lacing notes. Aroma of black chocolate notes with some nice rum notes with smooth vanilla notes. Taste is also a mix of black chocolate notes with some nice smooth rum and vanilla notes. Body is about average with good carbonation with some alcohol notes that are discernible. Solid rum BA stout.

Bottle from the source. Dry and very sweet, chocolate story but can use something to balance. already dry, lost some carbonation without being substantially cellared.

500 ml bottle from the brewery for a small fortune. Served cold into a tulip. This is a rum barrel aged imperial stout.
Appearance - Thick and oily, jet black with a small half finger deep tan head coalescing on top. It doesn;t stay long but adds to the ominous impression.
Smell - Lots of rum, plenty of wood too. Some molasses treacle and dark fruit as well. Smells "chewy" if that makes any sense, from enough experience reviewing beers, these are all aromas that seems to inevitably end up as a chewier than average feel.
Taste - Rum, molasses, caramel, treacle some dark fruits like a fig raisin combo, then rum soaked Glosette raisins afterwards. A bit of wood and leather in the finish. Delightful. On the sweeter side for sure.
Mouthfeel - Slick and thick, a bit oily and definitely chewy. Carbonation is light and body is full and robust.
Overall - Excellent imperial stout, the rum in combination with the raisin like flavors makes for a great pairing. Very well done indeed. A slow sipper and dessert beer for sure, this would pair great with a little splashed over some good vanilla ice cream.
