500 ml bottle served cold into a pint glass. Purchase from the brewery. Bottled December 12, 2023.
Appearance - Viscous black beer very thick from the bottle, oily and slick. No head formed initially, however after pouring then letting sit for a minute, a finger plus of dark tan head formed.
Smell - Loads of chocolate with a helping of vanilla. Has an ice cream sundae character to the nose. Muted bourbon notes.
Taste - Tons of chocolate, plenty of vanilla too, with some minor bourbon flavors floating the background. The chocolate really stands out here as with all in the CHUNK series. Cocoa powder to close. Decadent.
Mouthfeel - Very thick and full bodied with low carbonation. Syrupy with a chewy texture and stickiness.
Overall - In my mind the least of the three (when compared to the Marzipan and Chocolate Mint alternatives). but the gap between the three beers is very small. And to be fair the original CHUNK with no extra flavorings happened to be my favorite of them all. Very much worth a shot if you can still find it.
