A ruler, an overlord, a top dog, a crowned head. In the realm of all that is tart and sour, Jelly King reigns supreme.
Rather than choosing between sour or hoppy, we decided to create a beer that would be both at the same time. Showcasing the aromatic benefits of a generous dry hop, harnessing the prowess of lactic acidity, and coming to a bottle near you without a pesky slumber in oak, Jelly King is the fermented embodiment of immediate gratification.
This limited edition Jelly King variant was conditioned on loads of tart raspberry and juicy mango.

Served in my Utopias glass.
L - Quick-dissolving white foam leaves a thin ring of bubbles and a few wisps on top; negligible lacing. Hazy salmon body that makes sense as it's halfway between a mango and a raspberry in color.
S - Not the most aromatic member of the council of (Jelly) Kangs. A deep inhalation rewards with some starchy mango and tart raspberry. Lemon icing backdrop reveals the lactic nature of the brew. Pleasant and balanced, but lacking in potency.
T - Taste has more oomph, with a hearty dose of raspberry tartness and lactic acidity. Mango is more restrained here, imparting some nebulous sweetness alongside the lightly crackery malt backdrop.
M - Super dry and tannic from the fruit; might trick some into thinking it touched oak. Carbonation feels a little low for this style; I like kettle sours to be effervescent. Very acidic, with a bit of a bilious, reflux character after 25cl; or perhaps I'm just too old for these beers.
D - Tasty, but missing the attention to detail that would make it "pop". This is a crowded style and Bellwoods has regressed to the mean. Drinkable, and reasonably priced at $6.64 CDN, but lost somewhere between old money and new money.

At my lady Pamela's house; bottled and chilled, 500mL in a pint glass. From the Huron Church Rd. LCBO in nearby Windsor. Bottled August 12/25. My 16th beer from the Toronto, Ontario brewery, and 11th for 2025. Gracefully endorsed by Gracie the cat...

Pours a pink color with a hint of orange coloring. No foam. Smell primarily of raspberry. Taste is mostly of raspberry with hints of grain and some mango on the after taste. Mild amounts of sourness and sweetness. Just the right amount in my opinion. Would buy again when available.
