Bottle from Sammy, 650ml into a tulip.

Unfiltered darker orange, with a good white ehad and moderate retention. Thick lacing. Nose has prominent spice and sweet malt character, some floral and herbal qualities. Taste has a sweet fruity malt, some similar spicing to the nose (albeit softer), alcohol and American style hopping - almost spicy/tropical. Light drying sensation in the finish, medium mouthfeel and a higher medium carbonation. A nice tripel that improves as it warms, this could be real cool if they threw it in a white wine barrel or something.

Pours golden with a finger of fluffy white head. Nose is Belgian yeast, candied fruit, sweet pear and some well placed hop auromas. Taste is light fruit, subtle malts, candied sugar, Belgian yeast. Good mouthfeel, well carbonated. Slightly drying.
Overall a delicious beer of a style I normally do not favour. Bellwoods does a nice subtle easy drinking version I greatly appreciated this day.

On tap at the brewpub. Light brown coloured body with a bit of lace, almost no head. Dry hopped with Amarillo which lent it some citrus and hoppy flavour. Aroma was pleasant though nondescript. Not your classical triple, but also not a hopped up American version either.Good drinkability, a bit sweet, spices lend some complexity.

Bottle from the brewery bottled about 2-3 weeks ago. Poured in to Bellwoods tulip.

A - Hazy medium yellow with a big glow. A small layer if white head formed and quickly dissipated to a few bubbles.

S - Belgian yeast, light clove, bready malts and candy sugar are the predominant aromas. Some hopping and lighter citrus notes are evident in the background.

T - Sweet up front with candy sugar and bready/grainy malts. Belgian yeast and cloves are present as well up front. A good bitterness with American hopping qualities comes through in the finish accompanied by some citrus and tropical fruit flavours.

M - Medium body with some good chew. Light carbonation.

O - A nice American twist makes this tripel very interesting. A really good beer.

Pours a hazy orange colour, ring of white head that left a bit of lace as it faded. Smell is malty with spice and yeast present, fairly hopped up, some citrus fruit and floral qualities as well as some earthiness, more belgian like as it warmed revealing more yeast. Taste is quite hoppy and spicy right away, lots of fruity hop on the palate, orange sticks around for a while, yeasty and malty on the back end, lightly sweet and dry in the finish. Medium carbonation, medium-full body, decent feel. A nice easy drinking tripel though a bit of an 'American' take on the style, something I would order again.

Beer is a cloudy golden. Minimal white head which fades immediately. No lacing at all.

Smell is yeasty and a bit dank. Dry bready malt. Some grassy and floral hops are present.

Yeast and bready, doughy malt in the flavour. Generally quite dry, but there is a slight sweetness to the bread, almost as if a touch of honey were present. Same grassy flavours from hops as were in the nose. Does not have the fruity character of many tripels. Finish is rather bitter.

Full bodied, moderate carbonation, quite chewy and bready. Alchohol is noticeable but not overly so given the strength.

Overall, pretty good. Took some getting used to for me, and fairly different from the most common Belgian tripels (Karmeliet, Westmalle, Chimay, etc).
