This is a something that was made from nothing. After brewing several batches of our regular line up beers, we were left with partial bags of grain that didn’t quite fit into other recipes. We decided to formulate the least Luke-like recipe (this guy hates partial bags) with what we had, and initiate the whole affair with a Berliner style sour yeast starter. I think part of us wanted the resulting beer to be bad, just so that we’d never have to brew such a complicated recipe again, but as is generally the case with these things, we totally loved the beer. Intended for those muggels milling about, this light refreshing beer is a bizarre but beautiful collection of sour, fruity, and malty flavours.

A decent sour beer. Reddish brown colour with a crowning white head. Cherry aroma. A palate eraser.A bit much for a Berliner Weiss, not that complex, but I still liked it. Average mouthfeel and worth a try.On-tap at the brewpub.Could be some lactic acid.

On tap at the brewery, into a tulip.
Chestnut colour, no head or lace on the pour. Nose has caramel, toasty grains, nuts, light lemony tartness (clearly in Berliner fashion) with some woodier/earthier tones. Taste has nuts at the forefront, some grains, lactic tartness, caramelized malt flavours, wheat and lemons. Medium light weight, tartness is modest. A mildly drinkable browned Berliner, but nothing I'd revisit.

On tap at Bellwoods. This is a bit hard to classify- essentially a dark Berlinerweisse.
Beer is a murky brown colour with a smallish off-white head which is gone quickly.
Smell is bready with some grassy/earthy hops. Not a strong smell.
Taste is somewhat sour, with lemon. A bit of cherry as well. This interacts with a slight bready flavour, and caramel. This malt flavour is fairly restrained.
Medium bodied, highly carbonated.
Overall, OK. Wasn't bad but I wouldn't rush to have it again.
