On cask during Cask Days 2012. This was the beer I most anticipated and it did not disappoint. Also the only beer I got a double helping of- and am glad I did.
Black with a small tan head, looks good but not unlike any other imperial stout.
Aroma contains roast malt, chocolate and, of course, sour cherry. Aroma is nice but I always find it hard to get much smell in colder environments.
Taste is fantastic. Slightly sour cherry, plum, chocolate, roasted malt. Really nice. The cherry blends terrifically well with the base beer, which I am already a big fan of. A winning combo for sure.
Full bodied, though the cask treatment results in this not feeling as heavy as the regular Hellwoods does. Low natural carbonation. Nice on cask.
Overall, lovely. Absolutely a winner and I hope that Bellwoods does this again. It would be a shame for it to exist for such a short time. A great twist on a great beer.

Black with a dense dark brown head. Coating lace and persistent retention. Nose of dark chocolate and cherries, really just like black forest cake. Some roast. Taste has just the same, cherries are much more prominent, rich lightly tart, but sweet dark malt character and roast compliments and enhances all round. Big mouthfeel, creamy and full. A lovely offering, and probably only second the Amsterdam's Full City Tempest at this event. Reminscent of Amsterdam's collab with Flat Rock, and although not par with it, certainly gives it a run for its money.
