The Unihopper is our single-hopped pale ale series. As you might imagine, it's a bit of a hop-bomb--and that is exactly the point. Each time we brew the Unihopper, we use the same sturdy pale ale base as a launchpad to showcase an individual hop variety. Your taste buds have been warned. This batch features e05256, an experimental variety from Hopsteiner. It features bright citrus, dark berry, and slight resin and currant aromas. As per usual, this hop character rests in balance with a bready malt backbone.

Poured a clear gold body with a half-finger of bubbly white head. It looked quite true to form for a pale ale. Scents of blackberry, currant and citrus with an emphasis on orange and tangerine flesh with a bit of lemon and orange zest with light pine and cedar resin in the background. Overall impression of aroma is of an amazingly fruity aroma, with nice hits of berries and citrus and just enough resin. An amazingly unique aroma that showcases the unique singular hop uses quite well. Flavor begins medium-bitter with notes of dank, earthy hops, blackberry and strawberry, pine resin, cedar and citrus peel. This moves into a bitter middle with notes of pine resin, cedar wood, juniper berry, bready malt and. Finish is bitter with notes of pine resin, dark berries, citrus peel, light bready malt, juniper berry and currant. Aftertaste is bready malt, pine resin, cedar resin and juniper berry. Overall impression of flavor is of a unique profile, brought on by the use of a single unique hop. Very pleasant and a good mix of fruit and resin. Mouthfeel is medium-light bodied with medium carbonation and a resinous feel. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a classic pale ale, very nice. Overall this is an amazing pale ale. Like all Dragoon Unihopper beers it showcases its one hop wonderfully in aroma and flavor, with mouthfeel aiding the drinking experience. Highly recommended.
