Picked up a single from the Craft Beer Hop Stop cooler 10-22-19 for $2.99. Canned on 9-17-19; consumed on 1-4-20. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured reddish with a nice white head that is leaving some lacing behind.
Nose is rye spice forward along with some grapefruit.
Taste follows the nose where the rye infused malt base provides some pop and the grapefruit and pine round out things nicely with a moderate dose of bitterness; 6/10 on my scale.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and very smooth.
Overall a very enjoyable double rye IPA!

Poured a clear copper brown body with one finger of slightly copper-tinged off-white head. A very nice looking beer, quite appealing. Scents of tropical fruit with an emphasis on mango, aromas of orange flesh and orange zest, light pine resin and cedar, light spicy hops and a touch of brown sugar n the background. Overall impression of aroma is of a wonderfully hop-forward, full West Coast DIPA aroma that is fantastic. Flavors begins bitter with notes of pine resin, grapefruit peel and pith, cedar and juniper berries. This moves into a bitter middle with notes of spicy hops, grapefruit peel, pine resin and light alcohol. Finish is bitter with notes of pine resin, juniper berries, spicy hops, light alcohol and grapefruit peel. Aftertaste is grapefruit peel, pine resin, spicy hops and a faint grainy malt. Throughout there is an extremely faint sweet malt that is barely discernible. Overall impression of flavor is of a wonderfully hoppy DIPA that hits hard with pine, cedar and juniper, with lesser citrus peel flavors that are very nice. Just enough malt is present to keep it from becoming overwhelming. Very nice. Mouthfeel is medium-full bodied with medium carbonation and a resinous, slick feel and finish. Overall impression of mouthfeel is of a very nice DIPA, very true to form. Overall this is an excellent DIPA. It has an amazing, strong aroma and a wonderfully bitter flavor profile with the signature mouthfeel of the style. Well executed, hoppy and amazing.

Glad to see this bad boy is back on tap. The beer has a handsome deep amber color, with mahogany hues, and a sticky, dense tan foam. Toasty aroma of rye bread laced with herbal hops. It's a rich bouquet and somewhere I also get an earthy, ripened cheese character that I assume comes from the rye. It smells rich and delicious.
With as much bitterness (170 theoretical IBU's) as this beer has, it actually doesn't come across that way as the bready sweet malt balances it out nicely. The doughy rye flavor comes through fully, more than most rye beers I can remember trying. I'd say the beer is somewhat a slow sipper though, as it is a beast. You'll notice the mouthfeel is thick and chewy, literally liquid bread. The alcohol itself is keenly well hidden as well.
The Ryelander is a rich and meaty beast of a beer, one that needs taming by your palate. It gives you the hop fix you crave, plus a hefty dose of Rye. It's remarkably drinkable, though having more than one could still be a difficult chore for some. Overall one of the best beers Dragoon makes.

A few stats off their chalk board: 9.2% ABV - 225 IBU - SRM 10 - FG 1.010 - release date 3/1/13 - pint $6.00
Poured with care by their server Stout, left a half inch or less head a top clear reddish/copper/amber colored beer.
Rye, light grains, and expanded floral hops aroma are present throughout a glass of this IIPA.
There is a light alcohol running through a big rye and decent but light hops taste.
Parching dryish aftertaste with a bittering effect and a nice rye touch on this medium bodied drink.
Well worth the drive.
