Canned on 7/1/21; consumed 8/2/21
Pours a lightly hazy, deep sunflower-gold body capped with multiple fingers of rocky, soapy, off-white foam; good head retention leaves ¾ of a finger of rocky cap, a moderate, frothy collar, and a modest smattering of webby, soapy lacing spread around the walls of the glass.
Aroma accentuates apricot-tinged incense against pineapple rind, a fleetingly decadent sweetness into an extensive citrus twang; musty lemon, orange, and a stone fruit twist evolve atop firm, flaky malts highlighted into the back end of the bouquet.
Taste offers citric grass into fresh, pulpy clementine juice upfront, with orange zest accents leaning into overripe pineapple and mango over the mid-palate and boggy, flaky malt undertones into a back end peaking with booze-touched apricot compote.
Mouthfeel shows a medium body with a moderate-full carbonation; soft resins texture an oily glide over the mid-palate and a tinge of juicy bitterness on the back end brings wisps of distant grit to an otherwise casual finish.
A big, semi-hazy DIPA, with a fortified malt backbone proving a sturdy foundation for stone fruit saturation and edges of tropical sweetness; modest depth, though cleanly executed.
