#2/4 in a flight, 5oz?
Dark root beer with a little bit of brown foam sticking to glass, looks good.
Hard to smell anything from this, very faint toasted oat and malt, maybe the breeze & patio surrounding hid any aromas.
Tastes thick, malty, syrupy, caramel, dark chocolate, flat to low carbonation, can tell this is higher than normal alcohol.
Drinkable, but, there are many others on their menu I would choose before this.

On tap at Haven Gastropub in Pasadena, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a dark khaki head that settles to an oily film on top of the beer. Foamy dots and streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is surprisingly mild with some dark roasted malt and subdued cocoa and coffee aromas. Taste is of dark roasted malt, cocoa powder, and coffee beans. There is a medium level of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a creamy, medium bodied mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a better taste than smell in my opinion.
