On-tap at Taco Asylum, on to the beer:
Haven Gastropub is now in the beer brewing business? Let's see how this goes. This brown ale is a dark leather brown color, retaining its head fairly well, and leaves many splashes of lace around the cup. The nose is on the cocoa side. Cocoa powder is very noticbale , nutty too, a few scrapings of West Coast hoppiness.
Very bold in the taste, and tasty at that. The taste is a dominate duo of chocolate and nuts, making it seem more like a brown prter than a brown ale. No complaints though, this is great. There's a splash of hoppiness underneath the sweet blanket of taste, with a squirt of grapefruit making itself known. The beer has a medium-full body, yet is soft in the mouth.
Wow! I did not see this one coming. Well done Haven.

On tap for the 4th Annual LA Beer Week Beer Festival at Union Station in Los Angeles, CA.
Pours a clear brown with a foamy khaki head that settles to wisps of film on top of the beer. Small dots of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of toasted malt, roasted nuts, and caramel. Taste is much the same with a mild roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer that is tasty and easy to drink.
