Well, Raul is posted up at The Playground watching the Dodgers take on Matt Harvey and the LOLMets.
Upon first glance, this sucker has that reddish/brown barley wine hue. But unfortunately, in PED's case, it looks more like a blended Doritos Loco taco than anything promising.
The smell is inviting though. I see Lily Aldridge grinding up some Peruvian coffee beans in the twilight of the morning - Raul wants to dig deeper.
The taste, well... Lily has now been transformed into Courtney Cox; Raul means, he would...maybe.
With the "roastiness" of the coffee, Raul would definitely prefer something with more texture. And that is where PED fails like Alex Rodriguez during a urine test. Thin and flat like DKNY's summer catalogue, Raul does not agree. Raul is beginning to not agree at all.
Drinkable, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

On tap at Haven Gastropub in Pasadena, CA.
Billed as a Portola coffee infused brown ale.
Pours a murky dark honey orange with a foamy beige head that settles to a film on top of the beer. A foamy lattice of lace coats the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, caramel, and coffee bean aromas. Taste is much the same with caramel and coffee flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of roasty bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a good beer with a well done coffee presence that works nicely with the base beer.
