Our version of an American style IPA. It is more balanced than hop forward. Amarillo, Centennial, Cascade, Golding and Columbus hops achieve the hops flavor and aroma in this wonderfully balanced IPA.
The name for Type 3 was inspired after the Volkswagen Type 3, a model introduced in 1961, in the styles of a two-door Notchback, Fastback, and station wagon. A variant from our Type 2, this beer seeks to expand upon the traditional model of an IPA with a more balanced hoppy flavor.

Dull, hazy orange body topped with a very thick, dense head. Light cereal grain aroma with suggestions of pine and citrus; moderate hop bitterness. Medium-heavy body; juicy; dry finish overall.
The brewery's web site states this is more balanced than hop-forward. They got this one right. I find it refreshing to find a very good, tasty IPA that has some restraint in it. It's not intensely crazy, just very approachable and refreshing.

Complete wall coating lacing of micro bubbles and thin head. Color of clear amber brown. Aroma is very muted, very mild lemon, lime, grapefruit, pine needles, slight malt. Palate of a slam of effervescence followed by a unique jumble of flavors, very perfumed hoppiness- pine needles, floral perfume, sour lemon-lime-grapefruit, lemon sweet tart, slight malt again. Pros some lacing, light, refreshing, medium intensity, hop forward. Cons no nose, weird pop of big bubbles on palate, unpleasant sourness, thin body. 80/100.

12 oz can. Pours hazy dark gold with a medium creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is subdued fruity caramel malt and bubblegum.
The flavor is sweet fruity caramel malt with some resiny earthy hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and a bit watery.
Overall, I remember liking this better on draft - more fruity resiny hops.
