had no idea these guys were moving into some of these farmhouse styles, very very cool. this is a unique one, way more grainy than most, although it doesnt show up much in the color. i found this to be redder than a lot of these, and a whole lot more clear, its barley hazy at all. the head is short too, but that doesnt stop it from being attractive. the nose and taste show a little nutty malt, maybe some rye and oats with the wheat and crystal barley, its not all that complex, but it has a grisette component to it on this front. the yeast is interesting too, with notes of lime zest and golden raisin, sort of an odd sweet and zesty thing, but it really does work. i like the bigger grain base, but this could use more carbonation to keep it moving. the flavor is good, i think more unique than i expected it to be, and very in line with some of the other clever beers i have had from these guys. maybe could use a little funk, i think this would be rad with a brett pitch and more bubbles. either way its tasty as it is!
