473 mL can from the LCBO; coded C28L470336 (likely Mar 28 2024) and served slightly chilled. A trial balloon floated across the Canadian market by AB-Labatt, possibly never to be seen again.
Pours crystal clear, its pale yellow-hued body topped with nearly two fingers of fluffy, soapy white head that lasts for the better part of five minutes. No lace deposition, but it does leave behind a tight collar after it recedes; looks good for a macro light. Straightforward aroma of lime juice and corny cereal grain sweetness - maybe a little more concentrated than BLL, but otherwise the same thing.
That assessment applies equally well to its flavour profile: this is literally just BLL with an extra squirt of lime juice from the green plastic squeeze bottle. Not that I was really expecting anything different. Watered-down lime juice, faint zest and some corny cereal sweetness sum it up; maybe a little more oily than BLL, but only barely. Light in body, with lively carbonation that exhausts itself quickly; smooth, thin mouthfeel. In hot weather, I'm sure this would be quite refereshing, or at least more refreshing than plain Bud Light.
Final Grade: 3.17, a C+. Bud Light Double Lime is at least fifteen years too late. I was expecting to appreciate this more than the O.G. Bud Light Lime - mostly because I like lime, therefore twice as much should be twice as good, right? Unfortunately, the math does not work out as expected: the added citrus actually masks most of the 'beer' flavour, cancelling out any benefit that 'more lime' might've provided. Basically, it's just as boring as the original, albeit in a *very* slightly different way - seems like a waste of shelf space to me.
