On tap at the brewer's Borough Brewhouse. Poured into a snifter.
L---Medium/light brown color. Clear. Thick, fluffy head with very good retention and great lacing. Head was unexpected for style/ABV.
S---Hops are clearly present. Sweet, dark fruits. Brown sugar/molasses.
T---Follows the nose. Sweet & hoppier than expected. Brown sugar/molasses is prominent. Vaguely fruity. Alcohol is well hidden.
F---Thinner than expected. More carbonated for the style than expected. A little drying at the finish.
O---Excellent beer, even if it didn't conform to my expectations for a barleywine. I wish I had picked some up to go.
