Traded for this with a friend recently, as he was lucky enough to get this at the brewery. Beers like The Shape of Hops to Come from Neshaminy Creek are wonderful and this wasn't too far behind it as it was not in my pint glass for very long. Lots going on here but this worked in the end and as the artwork on the label indicated, there was quite a feeling of weed to be had here!
The pour to this was decent, as the muddled, golden hue let some light in around the edges. A moderate head topped this off as the lacing left behind was mostly concentrated in a scattered semblance of a ring near the top of my pint glass. Tons of wheat and oats in the nose with some citrus juice underneath that. A good amount of tang and pith were in the taste with some slick weed, floral orange notes, and bright, acrid juice rounding out the mouthfeel. The Sorachi and Sultana were very exotic and bold in this with the Citra being felt in the slickness and orange blossom-like undertone that tied everything in together. This felt quite natural and not like any New England IPA that I've had before.
Maybe it was because the haze factor was subdued and the booze came across as stronger than it was in actuality. Lots of body with the wheat and oats as it helped to curtail this beer's edge. My only problem with this was that there wasn't a date on the bottom of the can but if you want something that leaves off with a hop field and weedy dankness in the aftertaste with wild orange and lemon in the fray, reach for this and be sure to keep the chips and Doritos away!
