Poured from 16 oz can into pint glass. Pours a dark cola color with no light getting through, some ruby highlights around the rim. The head pours thick and khaki colored. Head falls to a ring. Smell is roasted malt, a bit of herbal hop, some cocoa. Taste begins with a bit of bitter cocoa, coffee, and roasted malt. Middle of sip intensifies these flavors and adds a subtle earthiness from the hops. Finish is surprisingly dry with a lingering coffee/cocoa flavor. Feel is medium bodied with decent carbonation that kind of scrubs the tongue. Again, a nice dry pop at the end. Overall, this is a beer style I don't drink enough. This beer could change that as it is relatively local and something I'd look out for when it's released. Good flavor, drinkable, and very interesting.
