Brewers are people too. And just like people, they can get a little hangry throughout the day. They can be hard to please but this brew might do the trick. This cleverly calibrated concoction conspicuously conjures up the familiar flavors of a King Size Snickers bar. Brewed with chocolate malts, lactose, salted caramel, and peanut flour, A Cure for Hanger is a full-bodied Pastry Stout that is sure to satisfy. Sweet and rich with notes of chocolate, salted caramel, and roasted peanuts, this one will keep you on the level ‘til the next craving strikes.

13 oz. pour on draught at the brewery; served in a tulip glass. I ordered it along with an IPA to let it warm before drinking. It pours a dark walnut color with virtually no head or lacing. The nose is much better with roasted malt, cocoa powder, and a whiff of nuts. The taste is decidedly chocolate-forward but as it warms I also taste caramel and roasted peanuts. The flavors are big and bold. Its mouth feel is rich and creamy - viscous but not quite chewy, with low/moderate carbonation. The 7.7% ABV gives it good substance. Overall, A Cure for Hanger is a well-crafted and flavorful Pastry Stout. And it nicely balances a pour of The Shape of Hops to Come.
