Poured into a narrow imperial pint glass: color is solid black, head is tan with fine bubbles, head presents one finger thick then dissipates to thin solid top, some lacing on the glass sides.
Smell is roast, dark coffee, bitter chocolate, earth and grassed hops.
Taste is similar with roast/coffee/bitter cocoa and earthy hop bitterness; missing an acidic sour note from distinctive dry stouts.
Mouthfeel is moderate carbonation, moderate sweetness, moderate bitterness.
Overall pleasant stout in the Irish dry spirit - maybe a little sweet and not so drying as the big names of this style.
