13oz draft, poured into a DryHop Brewers pint glass. Reviewed from the bar at DryHop.
The beer pours a very hazy golden amber color, orange and copper hues with a soapy white head, about a finger with moderate retention but loads of sticky lace clings to the glass. The aroma is pleasant, very hoppy, strong Simcoe presence offering some cattiness, pine, grassy and earthy aromas while there are some brighter notes of tropical fruit juice and wildflower that counterbalance but very Simcoe forward aroma. The flavors are good, more balanced than the nose, juicy citrus and tropical fruits lead the way before pine and assertively earthy Columbus hops take over, green and grassy, sappy and resinous with just a hint of pale grain and mineral water at the finish. The bitterness is restrained a bit but it's still got a punch to it. The mouthfeel is good, juicy and fluffy, medium body that coats very well with a creamy but dry finish.
Verdict: A nice IPA from DryHop, a solid entry in the Rolodex of New England style IPAs, perhaps a bit too Columbus and Simcoe forward for me, drowns out the other hops in the blend but a tasty beer nonetheless.
