32oz Crowler filled on 7.25.17, poured into a DryHop Brewers nonic half pint glass. Enjoyed on 7.25.17, reviewed from Tasting Journal.
The beer pours a bright copper orange color, golden hues that is very hazy and cloudy with a foamy white head, good retention and nice soapy lace. The aroma is very good, tons of tropical fruit, lots of peach and mango with some tangy pineapple and more bitter citrus rind, lightly floral with soft grain and a nice bitter spiciness from the rye malt. The flavors are good, juicy and fruity from the outset, lots of tropical fruits and light pitted fruit as well, soft peach skin is more pronounced than it was in the aroma while the rye malt adds a nice kick of spicy grain and light bitterness that plays well with a citrus rind flavor that lingers over some cracker malt. The mouthfeel is good, coating, creamy medium that has nice liveliness and carbonation with an easy but dry finish.
Verdict: A very good IPA from DryHop. A nice take on the NEIPA style but the addition of rye gives it a nice twist and it melds well with the hops in this beer. Bright and refreshing but with a more bitter and spice-ish kick as opposed to a sweeter and softer finish.
