Here is the classic Bavarian wheat beer. Fermented using the famous Weinstephen yeast strain. This strain imparts strong notes of banana, clove, and citrus. Prost!

On-tap at DryHop. 10oz pour in a mini-pint glass.

A - White foam settles to a cap, leaving behind specks of lace. Hazy peach body.

S - Yeast, wheat, phenols, clove, and banana. Yeast character is a bit dirtier than I was expecting, although apparently this is the Weinstephen strain. That being said, it's also got a more restrained sweetness than a lot of American-made hefes, which I appreciate. Hint of orange peel in the periphery, but grain-dominated here.

T - The taste is a similar mix of clove, yeast, grain, and light kisses of banana and pale malt sweetness to round things out. The name is a bit deceiving, as wheat and clove dominate, while banana-y esters are more in the background.

M - Grainy, with surprisingly high carbonation for a DryHop offering. Crisp, refreshing, although it could use a slightly softer texture. Seems like a slightly bigger beer than the listed 4.5% in terms of body, but still on the lighter side of medium.

D -A serviceable Hefe that appeals to my taste preferences. Should be pretty easy to drink in a 21oz weizen glass. A touch more banana and a bit less phenol wouldn't hurt, but largely enjoyable if not somewhat forgettable.
