Pouring a deep copper color, this bad boy layers the caramel sweetness on a slightly smoky nose.

1L growler from DryHop. Served in an Alchemist pint glass.
A - Generous tan foam settles to a thin cap, thicker collar, and a few stray specks of lace. Hazy dark brown with some caramel at the edges of the glass.
S - Toasted grains, caramel, light smoked malt although it intensifies and grows peatier as the beer warms up. There's a touch of herbal hop and fruity yeast character, but this is pretty much all about the malt.
T - Taste has a bit more smokiness to it, with less sweetness and more bready malt character. Lingering smoke and roast, with perhaps a touch of hop bitterness mixed in as well. Could use a bit more sweetness, but lots of flavor for 5.5%.
M - Smooth, medium, chewy body with more heft than you'd expect for the ABV. Pleasant lower carbonation, and lingering stickiness and smoke on the palate. No perceptible alcohol.
D - I used 4oz for cooking and drank the rest of the growler no problem. I could use a touch more caramel or toffee in the flavor profile, but otherwise this delivers exactly as promised; it's a smokey, Scottish Ale.
