A: Pours a hazy golden honey in color with light amounts of gentle visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and some faint apricot + copper highlights. The beer has a half finger tall sudsy foamy off-white head that quickly reduces to a large patch of wispy extremely thin film and a thin ring at the edges of the glass. Light amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of bready malts with a moderate amount of corn adjunct sweetness. Lighter aromas of grassy hops.

T: Upfront there is a moderate to strong flavor of bready malts with moderate amounts of corn adjunct sweetness - there is also a certain mineral-ness/metallic note to the malt flavor as well. That is followed by light grassy hop which imparts a light amount of bitterness which fades pretty quickly. Moderate amounts of booziness towards the finish.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with light to moderate amounts of carbonation. Slightly slick/oily.

O: Too sweet and too boozy for me to really enjoy this one and the metallic notes remind me of the olden days of unlined canned beers. Definitely not a beer that I will be coming back to...

A: The beer is hazy yellowish amber in color. It poured with a quarter finger high white head that quickly died down, leaving wispy lacing on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light to moderate aromas of sweet bready and toffee-like malts are present in the nose.
T: Similar to the smell, the taste is rather sweet and has lots of malty flavors of biscuits, bread, and toffee. Hints of corn adjuncts also seem perceptible.
M: It feels medium-bodied and clean on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is quite malty for the style. If you can get past the maltiness and sweetness, it isn't that difficult to drink because any traces of alcohol are well hidden.

The nose starts with a generous hit of saaz hops, but that quickly gives way to noticeable butterscotch notes by the way of diacetyl. The body is full and soft, but that is undermined quickly by the harshness of the diacetyl melding with a lingering bitterness. The effect is jarring. Mid-palate brings dried apricots and Werthers Originals, while hay-like hop flavors come on late. Nothing is really working here- a lot of these flavors don't seem out of place in a Bo Pils, but the proportions are all wrong and what should be harmonious has become a series of clashes. Not all that enjoyable.

orangey caramel in appearance, certainly hazy for a lager, with a handsome head

bread and butterscotch on the nose...a tiny whiff of booze on the end

saaz, saaz, and more saaz backed up by a malty sweetness and a tinge of alcohol and hop stickiness...lovely bitterness

somewhat deep, yet thirst quenching...if i didnt already know this was a pilz, i wouldnt be able to tell if this was a syrupy lager or a crisp ale

judging by the reviews, i enjoyed this more than most others enjoyed it, but then again, im a sucker for imperial pilsners (rogue/morimoto, im looking at you)... the time spent in the cellar was definitely a benefit

 

2011 vintage. Got lost in the cellar.

Pours a brilliant golden with a frothy cream head that leaves spotty lacing as it slowly dissipates.

Grain dominates the aroma, which is sweet, with a touch of floral hops and alcohol.

Flavor is sweet, corny, and grainy. The finish is somewhat bitter and harsh.

Body is moderate with moderate carbonation. That harsh finish lingers. Alcohol warmth is noted.

Bitterness ends up dominating, in the end, but it's a harsh bitterness that's unpleasant. The adjunct sweetness is also unpleasant.

Boom! Imperial Pilsner has a medium, slightly off-white head, a very hazy, dank, orange appearance, with some lacing left behind, a descending cloud (after the bottom contents are swished and poured in), a few ascending bubbles, and little brown chunks roiling about. The aroma is of harsh, sweet, cellared, molding malts and hops, and the flavor is of strong, dirty, sweet, bready, barley malt, earthy, stark hops, and odd caramel. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy and chewy, and Boom! Imperial Pilsner finishes strangely sweet, cloying, and tolerable sip-able (small sips). Overall, one must approach this with grave trepidation.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Found this one on a discount rack at my local "go to" beer shop.

Appearance: Darker golden amber color with a thin white head, no lacing on the glass.

Smell: Lots of hops and malt.

Mouthfeel/Taste: Thick full bodied, but easy and smooth to drink. Taste is all hops, very intense hop flavor, with a malt aftertaste, and I would even say some sweetness on the aftertaste as well.

Overall: Glad I took a chance on this one when I saw it on a discount rack! There was a lot left so I might buy a few more.

LOOK: Bright gold, tight sticky froth

SMELL: Bready, grassy, peppery, clean, herbal, faint citric zest

TASTE: Very smooth, grainy, mildly biscuity, boozy alcohol, bitter, melon rind, hop resin, semi-astringent; dry, bitter finish

A bit rough for at least for the first few sips, though soon, our taste buds started to numb over or at least were getting used to the bitter onslaught. Perhaps a bit too much of an “in your face” attitude here, but the intention of the end product still works.

 

 

500ml bottle poured into a 500ml pokal.

It has a nice rich gold color with a foamy white head.

The smell is what you would expect. Big Orange notes form the elevated use of Saaz hops and malts. Mildly herbal with a big booziness.

The flavor has a low to medium bitterness. Nice grassiness. Big malt and booze flavors.

It is a little better than the DFH My Antonia but even the Czech's aren't making passable imperial pilseners.

Served in a Chicago Bears shaker pint glass.

Brand new Czech craft brewery (well, craft contractors, anyway) that just landed in this here area. Let's see if they're peddlin' somethin' tasty, eh? This stuff pours a clear wan brass topped by a finger or so of white, soapy foam. The nose comprises sourdough, light earthy greens, light corn syrup, and a hefty dose of metallic and earthy minerals. The taste brings in more of the same, with a healthy dose of booze and with the bread and metals/minerals really duking it out for tongue supremacy, all to the detriment of the taste buds, frankly. The body is a stolid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly oily feel. Overall, an okay stab at the style at best, one that just tastes too boozy and muddled to fully enjoy.
