We finally reached the 2,000th batch at Kedzie, and the resulting beer is a big, roasty Imperial Stout with lactose and rye malt for body. We took characteristics we like from Deth’s Tar and Ryeway to create this beer. The recipe was a collaborative effort from the brewers that included European and U.S. caramel malts, coffee malt, and debittered roasted malt to accentuate the toasted marshmallow and roasted flavors without acrid or burnt notes. 20% Canadian Rye Malt helps give it a velvety texture.

Had on tap, aged 3 years. Brownish black body, light brown foam about 2 fingers high. Rye and lactose pair nicely in the smell and taste. In the smell they are with baker's chocolate, mild cream, toasted caramel, light roast coffee, and earth. Taste the sweet rye combo is only met with the chocolate, vanilla cream and very faint wet earth. Feel is brighter for style, rye adds some smoky and grainy textures but lactose thins it a bit, roast rounds out.

Tasted in a snifter from draft at O'Toole's on February 5, 2019. A big, roasty Imperial Stout with lactose and rye malt for body. Brewed to celebrate the 2,000th batch from the Revolution production facility. European and American caramel malts, coffee malt and roasted malt accentuate the toasted marshmallow and roasted malt flavors without acrid or burnt notes. Smooth.

A rough pour yielded a nice tan head; decent lace.
Oatmeal, fresh earth, mild medium roast coffee bean & faint raspberry notes in the nose.
Medium thick, creamy mouthfeel.
Medium roast coffee bean & cream flavors up front; milk chocolate, mild raspberry & faint booze heat notes in the nose.

10/3/18 (Chicago): 10.5% ABC 9 oz draft snifter pour at the Kedzie Brewery. Pitch black pour, thin tan ring on top. Faint roasted malt and milk neutral blended aroma, not strong or sweet. Nice roasted malt taste creamy milk taste and texture. Carbonation holds well, fizzy and creamy mouth feel. Overall very good pour and cheers to Revolution's 2000 brew!!
