Collaboration with Hop Butcher For The World
This Illinois Recreational Lager, complementing both Base and Superstructure, features Zappa, Strata, and Experimental Hop #0692 riding in on soft Pilsner and Vienna malts. The vibes are superior and the refreshment efficacious.

Pours a golden straw color with an unfiltered looking body, underneath a very soapy/sudsy white head that provides a bit of lacing. The nose is exotic citrus, some berries, and bready malts. Very interesting - venturing into IPL-ville.
The taste is led by the exotic citrus flavors, with lots of passion fruit and mango notes, and there’s also a significant strawberry flavor that is delicious, and some bready malt at the back of the palate. Truly a pleasure to drink.
The mouthfeel is crisp and a bit drying, solidifying that IPL character. I’d love to get this fresher (my can is 6 months old) and see where this goes, because it’s really good as it is - and that is coming from a beer nerd that is not the biggest IPL fan in the world.

Clear golden appearance with a full white head. Super weedy hops dominate both the smell and taste, to the point of being out of balance. Taste has some citrus too with light malts. Feel is sharp the whole way, with some dankness yet is watery underneath the hops and mild yeast, but it is crisp.

16oz can from Tavour. Clear, medium golden, one finger foamy white head. Sweet malty aroma, bready, citrus notes, orange and lemon. Malty, grainy taste, light citrus oil and a touch of hops.

poured from a 16oz crowler into a 3 Floyds nonic pint glass. pours a clear straw gold with a thin, soapy white foam cap that disperses into the faintest collar around the rim of the glass. a most amazing combination of fruity, almost dank hops on the nose paired with bread and cracker malt aromas. taste follows except it has a dry, slightly bitter finish. the amped up
hoppiness takes away from the refreshing qualities i might normally associate with a lager but it’s still crisp and well carbonated with a medium-full mouthfeel. have been wanting to try this beer for a long time now (since the first go around) and it did not disappoint. nice collaboration between two stellar Chicago breweries.

A Hop Butcher/Rev collab that I was looking forward to. Try as a might I never get excited about Rev's IPA's (their BA stouts and barleywines are out of this world though.) I'm not sure what an Illinois Recreational Lager really is, but if they're all like this, I"ll be drinking more of them. It's a wonderful mix of a lager and an IPA for me. I get more subtle fruits and hop bit but there's still the nice lager body and lower abv. This is a wonderful beer to drink by the pool or outside in the summer. It looks like a regular lager with a nice hay color and carbonation that continues to bubble for 15 min after the pour. On the nose you'll get fruity hops. If I didn't know this beer was, I'd guess a pale ale. Very nice mouthfeel that's full and perfectly carbonated. A great brew and I'll be looking for it at the store again.

This is a nice summertime beer from two of my favorite breweries, Revolution and Hop Butcher. This is an IPL and is definitely more hoppy than your typical Lager, which isn't a surprise seeing that Hop Butcher is part of this. The hop profile gave it just enough dankness and bitterness to set it apart. Very refreshing and tasty.

16 ounce can into a pilsner glass. Canned maybe 8/6/20, had 8/17/20.
Pours a bright, clear golden color, with a two and a half inch head of spongy foam with decent retention and some foamy lacing. Fairly active carbonation. Aromas of passion fruit, pineapple, a general citrus aroma, malt, some grapefruit, light lemon. Somewhat dank and a little grassy. The flavors seem more focused than the nose- passion fruit, grapefruit, a general citrus taste, malt. Grassy and earthy, a little dank. There’s a light bitterness throughout that lingers on. Smooth, crisp, refreshing, a very good lighter body, well carbonated.
The fruity hops are excellent with a solid lager base that retains its identity. The flavor is bright and fresh throughout the can, the aroma fades a bit. Very enjoyable and well worth a purchase.
