Two and a half years after filling these WhistlePig Boss Hog Calvados-finishing barrels with sweet component barleywine, they’ve re-emerged with mind-bending oaky nuances and a silky, mature malt structure the likes of which we’ve not hereto seen.

Had on tap. Dark brown body, tan cap and light lacing. Huge caramel, toffee, and vanilla leading the smell and taste. In the nose I get dark fruit, apple, oak, and slight maple. In the taste I get boozy apple, brighter oak than the nose, giant dark fruit especially date and plum, barley, and hints of earth. Sweeter but still has barrel and earthy/char notes to anchor enough. Feel is so silky smooth, warm, lighter than the other variants, and maltier too. Think vsoj hits the sweet spot more, but this decadent variant is well worth a try

Had this one at the Rev tap room. Had this after drinking my X.O.J, so this one had a lot to live up to. And it did. It is made from WhistlePig Boss Hog Calvados barrel and you can definitely pick that up from the aroma and taste. This one is a little deeper than the XOJ, and I actually thought that it had a bit of the apple brandy ryeway to it in the aroma. Charred barrel, boozy, with hints of leather and tobacco then comes some raisin and figs with a touch of caramel to balance it out. Excellent! Revolution is the undisputed king of the barrel!

Pours a dark brown-black color. Thin velvety tan head. Aroma has notes of dark fruit, apple Brandy, oak, bourbon and vanilla. Taste has notes of brandy, sweet apple brandy, oak, dark fruits, vanilla, and some tannic notes. Feel is smooth, almost velvety on the mouthfeel. Very dry. Excellent variant.

Poured from a crowler into a snifter 7/15/21 @ the Beer Temple.
Holy crap, so much wood, brandy, caramel & heavenly bourbon. A fantastic beer...wish I could have kept the whole crowler!
