Batch 1359 has been a component in each iteration of V.S.O.J. since its inception on draft in 2017. Now experience its lean, lumber-laden swan song - a full five years in the making. Subtly hazy with American oak tannin and fully oxidized, evaporatively concentrated malt sugars, this may be the most boldly flavorful English barleywine we’ve ever produced. Goodnight, sweet prince.

Had on tap. Pitch brown with a tan collar and spotted lacing. The nose on this barleywine is unreal in how rich and full it is: deep bourbon, expressive oak, lush dark fruit, gooey caramel, strong toffee, vanilla and vanillins galore, decent barley, and hint of barrel elements like char, earth and molasses. Taste follows suit, light cocoa and oxidation notes mix in. Feel is rich, barrel forward yet has barley and malt presence constantly, stupid how smooth it is, but a touch sweeter. Prefer vsoj but the slightest of margins, was great to have side by side, two of the best english barleywines I have ever had!

Had on draft 7/21/21 @ Revolution's tap room.
Soft, subtle and delicious. Nice notes of caramel & chocolate, with big time wood coming through on the finish. As it warmed, bourbon and fall leaves emerged.
A fantastic beer.

Wow! had this one at the Rev tap house while picking up my VSOJ. The aroma hits pretty hard from this one with charred oak and alcohol and caramel. So smooth. It's sweetness, with molasses and caramel, only last a very short time before the barrel takes over. Thick and chewy, rich and boozy. Great beer.

Pours a reddish brown color with a thin velvety head. Aroma is oak, vanilla, rich barley. Taste is where this shines - oak, dark fruit, vanilla, oak, bourbon, just rich and decadent. I think this is liquid barrel. Feel is really bright vibrant carbonation. Warming. Delicious.
