This blend of Thundertaker imperial rye stout and dry component Dark Mode imperial milk stout was re-barreled and finished over six months in a single Willet bourbon cask. Aromas of cherry, graham, vanilla and coconut abound from the Yellowstone, Heaven Hill and Willet bourbon barrels. A silken, rye-imbued texture and notes of dark chocolate brownie batter bely a towering expression of fine bourbon and American oak. (Contains lactose)

On tap at the Revolution Brewing Taproom in Chicago, IL.
This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and not much lacing.
This smells like chocolate covered espresso truffles, cookie dough, vanilla, coconut, graham cracker, dark fruit, rye, and dark chocolate.
This is utterly fantastic. Thundertaker and Dark Mode are both wonderful, wonderful stouts, and this a really good marriage of two great beers. There’s just a ton of barrel here, dry, toasty oak, sweet caramelly bourbon, toasted coconut, oaky vanilla, and graham cracker. There’s an inky dark espresso character, with dark chocolate bark, and brownie batter.
This is medium bodied, slightly boozy, but not overly so, with still a decent drinkability.
Revolution continues to make barrel aged beers that are pretty much 10000% what I look for. It’s a fastball right down the middle for me.

Had this on draft at the Taproom on 7/21/22.
Black appearance.
Minimal tan head; no lace.
Port wine, dark chocolate & raw cream notes in the nose.
Creamy, thick mouthfeel.
Rich cream, dark chocolate & booze heat flavors up front; BIG oak note on the finish.
Boozy but tender; the Dark Mode stands out when cool and the Thundertaker shined as it warmed. Fantastic.

Pours a dark black color, opaque, thin mocha colored head. Aroma is spicy rye, bourbon, dark fruits, and some oak. Taste is a lovely melding of sweet, dark fruits and barleywine with spicy roasted rye malts. Sweet and spicy playing off each other all while a lovely oaky whisky character comes through. Feel is medium bodied, smooth, warming, rich.
Overall a really lovely sipper.
