A single barrel selection of Deth's Tar imperial oatmeal stout aged in Four Roses and Heaven Hill bourbon barrels for a combined five years. An off-dry malt profile laden with cocoa and graham soars above harmonics of oak-derived coconut and vanilla in equal measures of aggression and refinement.

On tap at the Revolution Brewing Taproom in Chicago, IL.
This one pours a very dark black color, with a small head, and a bit of lacing.
This smells like intense dark chocolate, spicy and leathery bourbon, toasted coconut, char, marshmallow, and tobacco.
This has a staggering, almost dizzying amount of barrel to it, without all that much actual heat to it. There’s tons of drying oak, with some chocolate and coconut tastes to balance it out a little bit. There’s vanilla and marshmallow, cedar, cinnamon, and tobacco as well.
This is medium bodied, with a nice spicy but smooth finish, and a decent drinkability especially considering the elevated ABV.
I love how Revolution can have these beers that are in barrels for basically half a decade, and have them still be drinkable.

Crowler filled 7/27/22; drank 7/30/22 @ the Yarchives.
Black appearance.
An even pour yielded a decent dark tan head which quickly dissipated; no lace.
Bourbon, oak & dark chocolate notes in the nose.
Thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Bourbon, oak & mild dark chocolate flavors.
A booze bomb with little depth. For bourbon addicts who kinda like beer, I could see this being a winner, but I'm underwhelmed. Deep Wood is a fantastic program, but this one probably should have been dumped.

Pours a deep, dark black color. Aroma is super woody with notes of oak, bourbon, vanilla, marshmallow, and roasted malt. Taste follows the nose with tons of oak, wood, bourbon, roasted malts, vanilla, maple syrup, and marshmallow. The bourbon is strong enough to produce a little bourbon burn on the back end. Feel is medium bodied, smooth, rich.
Overall a really nice extended aged stout.
